The best protection for immunity

It is a celebration and holiday season, and we are enjoying food and drink with family and friends. During this period, people relax and take less care of their health, which can be very harmful given that the coronavirus pandemic is still going on, and other diseases are lurking in organisms with reduced immunity. In order to have a chance in the fight against infections, taking care of the body and the immune system should be our priority at this moment.

Vitamins and minerals are an essential link in good health. One of the key minerals for normal development and metabolism is iodine. Although we often forget its importance, the proper functioning of our body is not possible without iodine.

What we must not forget is iodine, which is responsible for the functioning of our whole organism. Since the body does not produce it, we must take in iodine every day, because it is responsible for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland, metabolism, proper functioning of the nervous system and immunity. Most importantly, during the pandemic, it helps us fight the virus!

Dr. David Derry's research emphasizes the dominant role of iodine in strengthening the immune system, especially in the fight against viral infections and covid. In addition to the well-known fact that it eliminates all pathogens, including the deactivation of viruses in the body and skin, which best contributes to strengthening the body, its most important role is the so-called apoptosis - programmed destruction of infected cells.

By consuming 1.5 to 2.4 milligrams of iodine a day, depending on body weight, we strengthen our immune system in the fight against the flu. An adult needs 150-200 micrograms of iodine a day. It is a small amount that gives an immeasurable contribution to the health and optimal function of our organism as a whole. We are also reducing the possibility of transmitting Covid-19, and thus mortality. The best sources of iodine are algae, sea fish, and iodized salt.

Foods rich in this mineral reduce the risk of disease, while stress increases it. The importance of iodine and its deficiency in food is proven by the fact that many countries have prescribed the artificial iodization of salt. Since we eat less and less salt and use various types of salt, the lack of iodine in the diet is evident.

Pregnant women require more iodine than any other group of people. Therefore, they will probably have a deficiency if they do not consume food rich in iodine.

The main indicator that the body lacks iodine is swelling of the thyroid gland in the neck, which can cause the formation of a visible lump on the neck.

Consume enough of this precious mineral every day. This is the right way to beat infections and strengthen the immune system. The best defense is the strongest attack.

If left untreated, iodine deficiency can lead to severe hypothyroidism. Complications can include heart disease and related disorders, such as enlarged heart and heart failure.

When it comes to mental health, depression occurs as well as cognitive impairment. Then, damage to peripheral nerves, known as peripheral neuropathy.

There are also problems with ovulation, which can cause infertility in women.

In pregnant women, it can increase the risk of congenital defects in newborns, miscarriages, and premature birth.
