The new movie "Mean Girls" continues to delight viewers!

The new movie  "Mean Girls", a remake of today's iconic "Dangerous Girls" with Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, continues to convincingly rule American cinemas.
The musical comedy thus added a new $11.7 million in the domestic market in North America, bringing the earnings there to an excellent $50 million, considering that the film was originally intended for streaming only and that the budget was $36 million. In the rest of the world, in the select markets where it is available, "Mean Girls"  earned a little over $16 million, bringing its current total to $66 million.

The film is still waiting for a wider international distribution, which is starting in the coming weeks, so even more earnings are expected in the coming weeks, and it seems that the weak reviews of the critics do not affect the attendance of this title in cinemas too much.

The plot of the new version also introduces us to the new student Cady Heron ( Angourie Rice ), who is immediately accepted into the popular team of so-called Plastics ruled by Regina George ( Reneé Rapp ) and followed by Gretchen ( Bebe Wood ) and Karen ( Avantika ). Cady will attract the attention of Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels ( Christopher Briney ), which will make her enemy number 1 - and then the real fight for survival in high school begins.

The new Mean Girls is indeed a musical and includes songs from the original Broadway show.

Recall, that "Mean Girls", the 2024 version, was announced as an adaptation of the hit Broadway show of the same name in January 2020, with original star and writer Tina Fey writing the script and producing again. Though the new movie is based on the original 2004 film, it's not a direct remake, according to producer Lorne Michaels.

Four years later, the movie premiered on Jan. 12, 2024.
