The Rolling Stones dedicated the concert to Charlie Watts: 'This is a touching night for all of us, we really miss you'

This is our first concert on the 2021 tour. This is a rehearsal, our debut. We have so many memories of Charlie and I’m sure you have them too. I hope you remember him as much as we do, Jagger said

The Rolling Stones dedicated the concert to Charlie Watts: 'This is a touching night for all of us, we really miss you'

The Rolling Stones had their first concert since the death of band member Charlie Watts on Tuesday night, writes the BBC. During his performance in Massachusetts, Mick Jagger remembered the late drummer and dedicated the concert to him.

- This is our first concert on the 2021 tour. This is a rehearsal, our debut. I have to say this is a bit of a touching night for us as this is the first tour we’ll be doing in the last 59 years without our beloved Charlie Watts. We all miss him so much. We miss him as part of the band, as a friend on and off stage, ”Jagger said.

- We have so many memories of Charlie and I'm sure you have them too. I hope you remember him as much as we do. We would like to dedicate this concert to Charlie - he added.

Watts passed away in late August and was the founder of the band, along with Mick Jagger.

Compared to other members of The Rolling Stones, Watts was a puritan. He has never toured with countless fans or shown an excessive addiction to drugs.

- I never fit into the stereotype of a rock star. In the ’70s, I tried to grow a beard, which exhausted me,” Watts once said.
