The Rolling Stones on their first tour without Watts, dedicated a video to him

The Rolling Stones embarked on the ‘No Filter’ tour on Sunday, and the audience was pampered with a video dedicated to the late drummer Charlie Watts. The British band, on their first tour since 1963 without Watts, displayed his photos and videos on large projection screens in the St. Petersburg Arena. Louis, Missouri, with the solo drum sound.

As a crowd of about 60,000 shouted ‘Charlie, Charlie’, Mick Jagger (78), Keith Richards (77) and Ron Wood (74) took to the stage to play the first song ‘Street Fighting Man’.

- It was pretty shocking to see those Charlie pictures on the screen. This is the first tour we do without him - said Jagger holding hands on stage with Richards. He thanked the fans for the messages of support and paid tribute to Watts, saying the band found them ‘really touching’.

"We all miss Charlie so much both on and off stage," Jagger added.

The drummer died in London in August after an operation about which details were not released. On Sunday in St. Louis, Steve Jordan took Watts’ place and became a drummer. Jordan was announced in August as a temporary replacement for Watts, who was initially supposed to return after recovering.

The 13-concert tour was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which ends in November, and the band didn’t know exactly whether it would be their last tour.

"I've been asked this question since I was 31," said Jagger, who underwent heart surgery in 2019, adding:

- I do not know. I mean, anything can happen. You know, if things get good next year and everyone feels good on tour, I’m sure we’ll do concerts. Now I’m just trying to concentrate on this tour.
