Actress Diana Rigg has had a long and distinguished acting career in theater, film, and television. The range of her roles was huge.

Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg was born near Doncaster on July 20, 1938. She spent part of her childhood in India where her father worked as a railway engineer. She studied to be an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she played numerous roles, receiving high praise for her portrait of Cordelia in King Lear.

She won Bafta for her role as an obsessive mother in the 1990 BBC drama "Mother Love." Four years later, she won Tony for Best Actress in one of her most acclaimed roles in Medea. In the same year, she received the title of Lady.

Towards the end of her career, she achieved an effective role in the hit series "Game of Thrones", playing the negative Olenna Tyrell known by the nickname Queen of Thorns.

She married twice. First for Israeli artist  Menachem Gueffan, from 1973 to 1976, and then for  Archie Stirling, the father of her daughter Rachael. The couple divorced in 1990 after Stirling's relationship with actress  Joely Richardson .

She died in September 2020 in a family circle at the age of 82. The actress, according to her agent, died peacefully, and the family demanded that their privacy be respected.
