Tommy Dorfman came out as a transgender woman!
Tommy was afraid that she would lose her career if she came out.
The star of the Netflix series 13 reasons why, Tommy Dorfman, declared herself in a new interview for Time as a transgender woman.
“For a year now, I have been personally-identifying and living as a woman - a transgender woman,” she said.
"I don't feel safe enough to talk about it, but why not let the world see what it looks like? I see today as a re-introduction of me as a woman, who medically made the transition. My pronouns are she/her. My name is Tommy.", she added.
She also explained why she did not want to change her name.
"I was named after my mother's brother who passed away a month after my birth and I feel very connected to that name, to the uncle who held me while he was dying."
She also said that she is no longer interested in the roles of male characters in movies and series.
