Warm gin drink you must try!
Mulled gin will serve the purpose and prove that winter is not reserved only for hot chocolate or mulled wine. You must try it!
The smell of mulled wine has long taken over our senses and we are slowly feeling a certain saturation, so the recipe for mulled gin will serve the purpose and prove that winter is not reserved only for hot chocolate or mulled wine.
Just like mulled wine, the hot mulled tonic is imbued with an abundance of festive spices - ginger, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and star anise. This drink is ideal for serving at parties because boiled apple juice can be made in advance and reheated when you need it for serving - just put a measure of gin and a crumb of tonic syrup in a heat-resistant glass and pour over hot juice.
Ingredients:
For boiled apple juice:
- 1 l apple juice (unfiltered)
- 25 fresh cranberries
- 1 cinnamon stick (about 10 cm)
- 3 allspice berries
- 2 stars anise
- 4 slices of fresh ginger
- 1 clementine
- 12 cloves
For cooked gin & tonic:
- 120 ml of boiled apple juice
- 30 ml of gin
- 1 teaspoon tonic syrup
For decoration: fresh cranberries, cinnamon, star anise.
Instructions:
Make boiled apple juice: Stir the cloves into the clementine and add them to the pot along with all the remaining ingredients. Cover and bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and let stand for at least an hour. Strain through a fine sieve, pour into a bottle with a lid, and place in the refrigerator. It can stand in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Prepare tonic syrup by cooking one liter of tonic over low heat until it reduces and becomes a thick syrup. Make cooked gin & tonic: in a pot, gently heat the apple juice until boiling. Pour gin and a teaspoon of tonic into a heat-resistant glass and pour hot apple juice over them. Garnish with cranberries, star anise, and cinnamon stick.
