Believe it or not, Jim Parsons is 49 years old and has been happy in love with Todd Spiewak for almost 20 years.
Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" remember the eccentric character of Jim Parsons as Sheldon, a not so romantic guy who, despite all his shortcomings, manages to find a soul mate. But Jim Parsons' love life off the screen is equally happy and deserves our attention. Jim and Todd met in 2002 at a karaoke bar, on a blind date. Jim's friend from graduate school decided to unite this couple. As soon as they saw each other - it was love at first sight.
"After that first meeting, I remember lying in bed with my eyes closed, but I couldn't sleep. I felt some 'lights.' I was like, 'This looks like an eternity to me,'" Parsons admitted in an interview.
Since Parsons did not admit to being gay until 2012, their relationship was a secret. When he first won the Emmy Award, he thanked his mother, but not his boyfriend! But Todd was there from the beginning, long before Parsons became famous. He was the actor's biggest support.
When Parsons became famous, it took him a while to get used to the fame. In one Instagram post, Jim expressed gratitude to Todd for always being with him and for being his "main source of common sense and gravity" through the "miraculous yet crazy journey of the last 12 years," adding that he could not without him: "No exaggeration. I love you, Todd!"
In 2013, for the first time at the Emmy Awards, he said: "I love ... oh, my favorite person on Earth, Todd Spiewak". Those were Jim's words that finally announced the relationship. But the actor also greeted Spiewak's parents, who were in the audience, because they were "an important part" of their lives. Somewhat later that year, at another event, Jim and Todd walked the red carpet together for the first time.
They are not only emotional partners but also business ones. Namely, they founded their own production company 'That's Wonderful Productions'. As a producer and graphic designer, Spiewak is actively involved in the work of the company. Parsons often publicly praises Todd for his personality, dedication, and always being there: "He is definitely an angel to me!"
After more than a decade of dating, the couple finally decided to say "yes" in 2017. And for all those wondering why they waited so long, Parsons had a ready answer: "We just didn't care about the paper." But the wedding ceremony had a deeper meaning than they expected: "For me, it was much more important at the time than I thought it would be", Parsons said.
Although they never intended their relationship to become an example of a successful same-sex community, the couple received an award for inspiration from LGBT youth. But Parsons explained that he never thought of his relationship with Todd as an "act of activism." He prefers to think of it as "an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, doing laundry, taking out dogs ... Ordinary life, boring love.”
