Why Cher is the queen of "the naked dress"?

Legendary American designer and costume designer Bob Mackie calls Cher the absolute queen of naked dresses. He claims that the singer was the first to promote this popular piece of clothing four decades ago. American singer and actress Cher is often called the queen of fashion provocation. In her long career, she did not hesitate to wear bold creations that highlighted her feminine silhouette.
At the 1974 Met Gala, she wore a nude dress with the signature of her favorite designer, Bob Mackie, which was so cheeky that it ended up on the cover of Time magazine. That honor at the time was reserved only for world leaders. At the 1986 Oscars, she wore a statement two-piece dress by the same designer that fully revealed her fit belly.
It was a creation that more resembled the costume of a showgirl dancer in Las Vegas than the dress of a guest at the American Academy Awards. Cher claimed the dress was an expression of rebellion against the Academy's electorate because she was not nominated that year for her role in Peter Bogdanovich's acclaimed film “Mask”.
But many agree that she raised the most dust with Bob Mackie's distinctive creation two years later when she won an Oscar for the lead role in "Moonstruck"
She stepped onto the stage of the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles in a see-through dress that did not allow the wearing of underwear and covered only parts of her body. Of course, Oscar had never seen anything like it before. That is why the American designer calls Cher the queen of a naked dress.
“She never looked vulgar in anything she wore because she had a beautiful body, and she wore nude dresses with the same confidence as jeans and a T-shirt”, Bob Mackie revealed in an interview with American magazine Vogue. She doesn't give up on the naked look even in her seventh decade of life, and she surprised many when she appeared in her recognizable posing overalls at last year's Billboard Music Awards.
Today, nude dresses are an integral part of most red carpets and are worn by many famous ladies - from reality star Kim Kardashian, through models Gigi and Bella Hadid to singing divas Rihanna and Beyonce.
