5 things that hinder your personal progress
Fear is not the only thing that stands in the way of our success and personal satisfaction
Fear. It preoccupies our mind and prevents us from progressing. Fear is the main reason why we sometimes procrastinate and lose confidence because it completely paralyzes us. Fear, however, is not the only thing that stands in the way of our success and personal satisfaction. Here's what else is holding us back from reaching these goals...
Comparison with others
Comparison can be triggered by a negative internal monologue in which we are always the worst. When you often tell yourself that you are incapable, it is logical that you will start to believe it and lose the courage and will to act productively. Our advice is to focus on yourself, where you are today, where you were yesterday and where you see yourself in the future and forget about comparisons with others. Only then will you get a true picture of how much progress you are making.
Excessive self-criticism
A healthy dose of self-criticism is useful. It motivates and helps on the way to goals. However, if you are (too) harsh a critic of yourself, it can be a huge obstacle to your progress.
You wait for permission from others for everything you want to do
You often seek advice from close people and rarely act without their approval, even when it comes to very simple decisions. You care most about not disappointing anyone, to the detriment of everything else. It would be better for you, however, to start trusting your intuition and become more independent.
You do everything yourself
Asking for help is a sign of weakness for you. You want to succeed on your own and work hard to achieve your goal. It would be advisable to stop this practice. Our next suggestion may help you with that. Write down the three things that are giving you the most trouble right now. Next to each, write the name of a person who already has experience in this area. Write down the questions you want to ask each of these people. Call them and ask them the given questions.
You wait for the right moment that never comes
You put off important things because it's supposedly not the right time for them. You always have something else to do before them, even though it's clear to everyone that you're just procrastinating. You make excuses about lack of experience when you don't apply for a job, lack of time when you don't show up at a gathering with colleagues, and always everything else takes priority over things that are key to your personal development.
