6 mistakes we make during our period!

Our bodies are especially sensitive during menstruation, and some habits we have during that time are not considered healthy. So it would be best to simply get rid of such bad habits:

1. You use tampons and pads that contain bleached cotton or artificial silk

Most of the pads and tampons are made of "rayon", artificial silk that is similar to polyester, and bleached cotton. Such pads may contain traces of pesticides, bleach, and dioxins, toxic artificial compounds that can lead to fertility and endocrine disorders.

Long-term use of such tampons and pads can endanger your health, so there is a better option, and that is to use organic, unbleached pads and tampons.

2. You don’t change the tampons or pads often enough

The longer you wear a tampon or pad, the more bacteria will grow. In this way, you create a suitable environment for bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, which causes toxic shock syndrome. It is recommended that the pad and tampon be changed every four to eight hours.

3. You use fragrant products

No one wants to smell bad, but using products that contain artificial scents is not a good idea during menstruation. Such products can irritate the body, lead to bacterial and fungal infections, and are full of synthetic chemicals such as phthalates and parabens. That is why it is best to avoid pads, tampons, and baths with artificial scents during menstruation.

4. You don't get enough sleep

It is difficult to fall asleep with cramps, restlessness, and insomnia caused by hormones, but a quality sleep of seven to eight hours a day is most needed especially when you are menstruating. Lack of sleep has a stressful and inflammatory effect on the body and can disrupt hormone levels and your mood. But while you sleep, your body has time to raise its immune system and recover.

5. Skip exercise

In addition to being a great way to deal with stress and flush out toxins, exercise also helps relieve cramps and improve sleep quality. Even when you are menstruating, it is recommended that you exercise for at least 30 minutes every day.

Simple activities such as walking, cycling, or swimming help reduce the intensity of menstrual cramps.

6. Drinking coffee

Lack of sleep, fatigue, and headaches may seem like great reasons to pour a cup of coffee or tea, but caffeine can lead to dehydration and make symptoms like headaches worse. Reducing caffeine intake during menstruation will help alleviate tension, insomnia, and anxiety.

If you feel chest pain a few days before the start of menstruation, try to avoid caffeine as much as possible.
