A new Netflix' hit series: "The Brothers Sun"

Netflix started 2024 on a promising note. Their new miniseries "The Brothers Sun" is one of the most watched on that platform, and it's quite different from the content they usually produce. "The Brothers Sun" is an action dramedy about gangsters, and the positive reactions don't stop coming. Some are already calling it the best series of the year.

What is it about?

The series follows the gangster family Sun, which originates from Taiwan. The father of the family is a ruthless gangster, and his wife Eileen 'Mama' Sun ( Michelle Yeoh ) runs away with her younger son Bruce (Sam Song Li) to Los Angeles because of the danger. Her older son Charles (Justin Chien) followed in his father's footsteps and stayed in Taiwan, but when an assassination attempt is made on his father, and he ends up in a coma, Charles must go to Los Angeles to protect his mother and brother. Bruce knows absolutely nothing about the family's shocking gangster business, while Charles has a reputation as a ruthless protector of the family and a loyal associate of his father. But when Charles comes to Los Angeles he will have to learn how to navigate a less violent life and a much more relaxed environment. Both brothers have their own secret dreams, but in order to realize them, they must survive the life they were born into.

"The Brothers Sun" met with great acclaim from audiences as well as critics who are calling it the most exciting series on Netflix right now with possibly the best action fight scenes you'll see. However, they criticize this series for not making the most of her biggest star – Michelle Yeoh. The Asian actress is a legend of martial arts films and she is best known to a wider audience for her role in the film "All at the same time", for which she was awarded the Oscar for Best Actress. She also starred in the hit "Crazy Rich Asians" , and earlier in the acclaimed "Crouching Tiger", and "Hidden Dragon". The rest of the cast is made up of lesser-known Asian actors. The series has eight episodes that you can watch on Netflix, and we present the trailer below.
