Alec Baldwin: 'There should be one police officer on the set of every movie that uses weapons'

Actor Alec Baldwin, 63, took to social media over the tragedy on the set of Rust when he killed camerawoman, Halyna Hutchins.

Alec wrote that a police officer should be present at the shootings to monitor gun use.

- On every film or television set on which a weapon is used, fake or not, there should be a police officer, employed by the production, to specifically monitor the safety of the weapon - the devastated actor wrote.

Recall, recently the film world was shaken by a terrible tragedy. On October 22, actor Alec Baldwin, unaware that he had a loaded pistol, killed camerawoman Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza. More and more details from the shooting are known, and on social networks, the Hollywood actor shared a post in which he decided to put an end to speculations that the environment on the set of the movie 'Rust' was not safe enough. The actor shared the posts of one member of the film crew who concluded that the film had ‘common problems but that an accident could not have been expected’.

Conditions for shooting the film Rust

- The story that we are too busy and that the conditions on the set are unsafe and chaotic is nonsense! We’ve never had more than 12.5 hours of filming a day, and that’s only happened once. On the day Halyna passed away, we worked 12 hours after we had done 11 hours of filming the day before. We finished by 6.30 pm and had 56 free hours before that. No one was too tired to do their job. The cameramen had hotel rooms. You can’t tell me that six adult men feel insecure in a hotel, but it’s great for them to sleep in their own cars in the parking lot (which didn’t happen), as some claim. They were given hotel accommodation, but many did not use it. Our film set was only 35 minutes away from Albuquerque. Santa Fe is an hour away from Albuquerque, and the movie set is 25 minutes south of it

The filmmaker Baldwin reports that some on the set tried to negotiate new contracts when they were already in the middle of filming, thus wanting to keep the producers on thin ice. They were looking for more money and better hotels than the rest of the team because they thought they were better.

Alec Baldwin sharply on social media

- Those characters aren't heroes. They only cared about their own asses. I repeat ... all this can be proven - it is stated in the announcements.

He adds that the producers worked tirelessly and did everything to please the film crew, even some, as he calls them, 'ungrateful'. Baldwin reports that they had several security meetings on the set, sometimes even several on the same day.
