Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain in the new trailer for the "Mothers' Instinct"

Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain star in the new psychological thriller "Mothers' Instinct", for which the first trailer was presented yesterday. The long-awaited American film about a friendship between two women that turns into conflict is a remake of the 2018 French film "Dulles", directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse, which is itself an adaptation of Barbara Abel's 2012 novel "Derrière la Haine".

Even though we do not have the release date yet, there is information available about the film's main cast. Other names linked to the film are Josh Charles (The Good Wife) and Anders Danielson Lie (The Worst Person in the World), who are expected to play the husbands of Hathaway and Chastain's characters. "Gossip Girl" actress Caroline Lagerfelt is also in the project, but her role hasn't been revealed yet.

What can we expect?

The Oscar winners in the film are best friends and neighbors, Alice and Céline, whose perfect lives in the suburbs of the 1960s are shattered after a tragic accident in which one of their children was killed. The story then follows how the family ties and friendship of these women slowly crumble due to guilt and paranoia, and the dark side of the mother's love and possessiveness is slowly revealed.

Filming of the American version was planned since October 2020, when it was revealed that it would be directed by the director of the French version, Masset-Depasse, and the new director Benoît Delhomme took over the project in June 2022 after the previous one left this project due to family obligations.

In the same year, Neon acquired the rights for American distribution, StudioCanal for the United Kingdom and Ireland, and Amazon MGM Studios for Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Despite all of the above, "Mothers' Instinct" does not have a theatrical release date set, although StudioCanal states that it will be soon.
