Beyoncé found out that she is a descendant of a slave owner: The curse has followed my family for generations!
"It took me a while to digest that knowledge," Beyonce said in shock
Today, September 4, the famous Beyonce turned 40 years old.
Before the jubilee, she summarized her life path, and how she went from a girl from Houston to a diva who has a huge world influence, a successful entrepreneur, a wife, and a good mother of three children.
She also talked about the cruelty of show business, as well as the consequences it left on her mind and body.
- In this business, so much of your life does not belong to you, unless you fight for it. I struggled to protect my sanity and my privacy because the quality of my life depends on it. I am reserved, except for the people I love and trust. Those who do not know me and have never met me could interpret it as if I have a wall around me - Beyonce pointed out.
- I think that, like many women, I felt the pressure to be the backbone of my family and my company, and I did not understand how much it affects my mental and physical well-being. I was not always a priority for myself. For more than half my life I have been struggling with insomnia due to touring. There are also years of muscle wasting due to dancing in heels. Also, stress on my hair and skin, from sprays and paint, the heat of curlers, and wearing heavy makeup while sweating on stage - the singer explained.
Among other things, Beyonce pointed out that, researching the roots of her family, she came to know that she is a descendant of a slave owner.
- I recently researched my origins and found out that I am a descendant of a slave owner who fell in love with one of his slaves and married her. It took me a while to digest that knowledge - Beyonce said in shock.
- I questioned what it all meant and tried to put things in some perspective. Now I believe that is why God has blessed me with the twins I have given birth to. It was the first time that male and female energy could coexist in me, and grow in me. I pray that I managed to destroy the curse that has followed my family for generations and that my children will have an easier life - said the star.
