Singer Billie Eilish, a Grammy winner, spoke about her addiction to porn that began at age 11.That caused her nightmares and created confusion when she started dating young men.
Eilish, who turns 20 on Saturday, spoke on "The Howard Stern Show" on Sirius XM radio.
"I think pornography is a shame. I used to watch a lot of porn, to be honest. I started watching it when I was about 11," the singer said, adding that it helped her feel like "one of the faces."
“I think it really ruined my brain and I feel incredibly devastated that I’ve been exposed to so much porn,” she added, saying she suffered from nightmares because some of the content she watched was so violent.
Eilish, who was educated at home in Los Angeles and has seven Grammy Awards, is known for her often dark lyrics.
In the ballad “Male Fantasy” on her second album “Happier Than Ever”, she sings about being alone at home and drawing attention by watching pornography while reminiscing about a broken relationship.
Eilish said she is angry with herself now because she thought it was okay to watch so much porn.
"The first few times I had sex, you know, I didn't say no to things that weren't right. It was because I thought that was what I should like," she said.
Billie, who began her career wearing loose clothing to prevent people from commenting on her body, became at 18 the youngest person in history to win all four major Grammy Awards the same year, taking statuettes for a new artist, album, record and song 2020.
The singer said that fame made it difficult for her to go out with young men. "It's really hard to meet people when people are either afraid of you or think you're out of their league," Eilish told Stern .
