Brigitte Bardot wants to ban bullfighting, so the mayor made fun of her: 'You didn't tell no to the matadors '

French actress Brigitte Bardot (86) is fighting for the rights of bulls in a small town in France with posters. On the posters she gave, she points out the cruelty that is carried out towards bulls and believes that fights should be banned.

The mayor there,  Robert Ménard (68), decided to respond to Brigitte with the same measure, so he put up posters accusing her of having an affair with the matador.

Ménard wrote a slogan on the posters with a picture of Brigitte from her young days next to the matador:

- When it comes to matadors, Brigitte has not always said 'no' to them - which the mayor claims is a joke.

The actors didn’t like the posters, so Robert quickly removed them, within ten minutes.

Brigitte responded to the slogan on the poster on Twitter, referring to the tradition of cutting ears and tails of bulls:

- If I had an affair with a matador, I would get the ears and tail back! she wrote, to which Ménard replied:

- Our intention was not to hurt anyone, but due to the lack of humor of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, we decided to withdraw the posters - he wrote on Twitter.

The mayor then explained that bullfighting is a tradition of the area and that he does not plan to abolish it.

- Bullfighting is part of our cultural characteristics. I can understand some of the arguments, and I am a vegetarian myself. But at the same time, I defend tradition and cultural heritage. It's part of our DNA! Ménard told the Telegraph.

The fights took place this weekend in Béziers, and the spectacle was watched by 18,000 people.
