Who will be the new James Bond? Idris Elba
We all know it is somewhat hard to accept a new actor in the role of a well-known character. James Bond has some big shoes and a tuxedo that is not easy to fill. But, even though we thought many of the actors that portrayed Bond won't fulfil our expectations, we were wrong every single time.
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the producers of this beloved franchise produce spoke about Daniel Craig and his final performance as agent 007. They said that a lot can be learned from his performance. They also gave us a hint on who is the potential successor of the famous MI6 agent.
Is Idris Elba stepping into the 'tuxedo'?
'Crew Call' podcast this week, hosted Broccoli and Wilson. They were asked about potential discussions with Idris and the possibility of him playing the part. Elbas considerable fanbase almost got the actor to go viral with all the support they gave him. It seems like they definitely want the 'Luther' actor in Bond's iconic tuxedo.
Even Elba was surprised with how many fans he has and in unexpected places. For example, Saudi Arabia.
"I found Saudi was warm and welcoming to me, in a surprising way, if I'm honest," the English actor said on Saturday, June 13, during the inaugural episode of a new talk show produced by the King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture (Ithra).
In an interview with Saudi director Ali Alsumayin, Elba explained that it was "surprising because I wasn't sure if my work had ever resonated in Saudi." Ali noted that Elba's fan base is indeed huge in the kingdom.
Elba visited Saudi Arabia in 2018 to support the country's film, music, and entertainment industries. The actor told Ithra that the trip was swift and brief, but that he was looking forward to coming to Saudi Arabia soon.
But, now, let's go back to Bond...James Bond.
Broccoli replied she and Idris are they are good friends. She went on to suggest that Idris Elba has been mentioned as someone who might be able to carry on Bonds heritage.
As of now they are not even really considering names for the role, yet, she carried on.
Idris Elba, who plays in the crime drama 'Luther,' is frequently mentioned. He is one of the main contenders to step in and replace David Craig in the famous role.
'Concrete Cowboy,' 'Pacific Rim,' and 'Thor: Ragnarok' are among the films in which the 49-year-old has appeared.
For the younger crowd, if Idris gets the role, he will join Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig as the seventh actor to become Bond in the franchise.
Tom Hardy, Richard Madden, and Henry Cavill are among the other stars rumoured to be potential names to be the next Bond.
