Cult horror star Cassandra Peterson, also known as Elvira Mistress of Darkness, after 19 long years decided to reveal to everyone her biggest secret that she hid because she was afraid that she would lose fans.

Namely, 70-year-old Cassandra admitted in her recently published memoir "Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark" that she has been in a relationship with her girlfriend Teresa 'T' Wierson for the last 19 years. In the show "Tamron Hall", she also showed a photo of them together and revealed how she feels now.

"I feel scared and exciting, but I was just as relieved, as was my partner. Keeping a secret all this time is a bit suffocating to a person. Of course, my loved ones knew that, but not the public, I don't think anyone had a clue," she admitted

Cassandra first portrayed Elvira during the 80s, and she first saw Teresa in the gym, when she mistook her for a man.

Often, when I was doing my pre-workout warm-up on the treadmill, I couldn't help noticing one particular trainer — tan, tattooed, and muscular — stalking across the gym floor, knit cap pulled so low over his long brown hair that it nearly covered his eyes,” she revealed.

They met in 2002 when Cassandra was still married to her manager Mark Pierson. She also admitted that before Teresa she was not attracted to women at all, but also how she worried that this relationship would affect her job because the character of Elvira was a sex icon among the male population.

Elvira has always had a thing for men, and men have a thing for her, so I worried that if I announced I was no longer living the 'straight life,' my fans would feel lied to, call me a hypocrite, and abandon me," she wrote.

But after coming out, she received tremendous fan support and awe for finding a wonderful relationship.
