Coca-Cola: What does pixels taste like? 

The new taste of the popular carbonated refreshing drink originated, they say, in the metaverse, and they will pour it into the real world. The limited-edition drink will allow people to taste - digital pixels.

Directly from the metaverse to the real world - that's how Coca-Cola describes its new product. As part of its creative campaign Coca ‑ Cola Creations, the American producer of carbonated soft drinks will launch a drink called Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte, inspired by the digital world. 

Its innovative flavor, they say, will bring the playfulness of pixels and digital experiences from games into the popular fizzy juice.

The taste of digital

Coca-Cola's international team of creatives, technologists, designers, and marketing experts have worked together to create a taste that, according to them, pixels on the screen would have if we could taste them. 

"The bright and open taste of this drink is reminiscent of the moment of starting a video game, and the refreshing ending will be your perfect partner in gaming" - they describe indescribably from Coca-Cola.

What can be described to some extent in words is the packaging. The can of the new "pixelated" beverage is wrapped in graphics, appropriately imbued with pixels, which create a recognizable company logo.

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte will be available in extremely limited quantities in South American markets as early as this week, in early May in the US, and later in China. The European market is not mentioned for now.

The pixel-flavored drink first appeared in the video game Fortnite, where players could get to know it virtually. Then it came out of that virtual world into the real one, where you can taste it. 

Customers of this limited series of pixel-flavored drinks can also scan the QR code placed on it, gaining access to a special augmented reality game - which is also dedicated to pixels and closely related to Coca-Cola Byte.
