Despite her illness, Winnie Harlow realized her dream and became a world - famous model, and today she is 27 years old

Model Winnie Harlow (27) is celebrating her 27th birthday today, and her real name is Chantelle Whitney Brown-Young. Growing up with vitiligo was not easy for her - they called her a cow and a zebra, and today, due to her special appearance, she is one of the most sought-after models in the world.

Her illness led to her being bullied so much at school that she had to drop out of school and continue her education from home. Although her peers were ruthless, Winnie did not give up and learned to love herself:

- I fell in love and that opened up many opportunities for me. Love yourself! - she said.

Winnie wanted to do journalism, but a photographer and journalist in Toronto convinced her that she should try modeling and that's when it all started.

She started on social media, and her followers helped her with support and she was noticed by the producers of the show that made her famous.

Harlow was striking on the show ‘America’s Next Top Model’ in 2014, after which her career took an upward trajectory.

The prestigious Vogue magazine described her as ‘one of the most recognizable faces of the international fashion scene and a vocal advocate of self-confidence’.

Winnie today has 8.8 million followers on Instagram and an army of fans, and in her profile description she wrote:

- Speaking ur truth tho it might create conflict or tension; Living in harmony with ur values.

She always wants to convey a message of acceptance and diversity to her fans and says the fashion industry is slowly adapting to ‘different’ forms of beauty.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with major fashion and cosmetics brands such as Victoria's Secret has been on the cover of Vogue magazine as many as four times, and has graced many other covers such as Elle magazine, Glamor, and Harper's Bazaar.

She has walked the runway of all the important fashion shows such as New York and Paris Fashion Week and has collaborated with Marc Jacobs, Moschin, Nike, and Desigual.
