Dior vs. Chanel in the first trailer for "The New Look"
Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche in a story of rivalry during the 1940s.
Apple TV+ released the first official trailer for the biographical historical drama "The New Look". Namely, this is the story of the rise of Christian Dior and the increasingly clear fall of Coco Chanel.
This is a new historical drama series starring Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel. Inspired by true events, the series from Todd A. Kessler shows the fashion designers and their contemporaries as they launched modern fashion, set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris.
What do we know?
The 10 episodes of this series, which were filmed exclusively in Paris, are set during the Second World War, and the main roles are played by Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Oscar winner Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel. In the background of the Nazi occupation of Paris, a great event of the 20th century takes place when the French city came back to life thanks to the new fashion icon Christian Dior. As he rises on the fashion scene, Chanel's popularity as the greatest fashion designer is called into question.
The end of the war brought a new dream, a new freedom, and a new vision – a collection unofficially named "New Look". The excellent cast also includes Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, Claes Bang as Spatz, and Glenn Close as Carmel Snow. The series was created by Todd A. Kessler, who is also its showrunner, writer, director, and one of the executive producers. The great news is that the second season is already in preparation.
We expect "The New Look" to premiere on the streaming service of Apple TV+ on February 14 with the first three episodes, after which we will have one every week until the finale on April 3.
