He was celebrated for his role in the Oscar-nominated film 'Juno' in 2008. Eight years ago, then Ellen, admitted to being a lesbian, and four years later she married a Canadian dancer Emma Portner, from whom she has since divorced.
'Dear friends, I want to share with you that I am a transgender person, I use the pronouns he/they for myself and my name is Elliot. I feel happy to be able to write this, to be in this place in my life. I am incredibly grateful for the people who support me on this journey. Please also be patient. I am happy, but also in great fear of the invasion of my life, hatred, jokes, and violence, ' he wrote at the time.
'I'm very proud of Elliot. Trans, queer and non-binary persons are a gift to this world. I ask for your patience and privacy and to join me in supporting trans life every day. I love being trans and queer and my love goes to everyone like me. I see you, I love you ', he added at the time.
In the same year, he decided on a transformation and talked about everything for Time magazine.'What I expected was great support and love, but also a huge amount of hatred and transphobia. That's what happened, ' he said. He added that as a child he often had the desire to get a short haircut and that he struggled with his gender identity for decades.
After becoming famous, he also discovered that he struggled with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. He stated that he just never found himself. He couldn't even look at his own photo for a long time. He also described how the operations changed his life.
'It wasn't just an operation, it was a change of life ' Elliot said that it was the pandemic that led him to come to terms with his gender identity. ‘I’ve had a lot of time to really focus on things that I think I’ve, unknowingly, avoided in so many ways. I finally managed to accept transgenderism and allow myself to fully become what I am, ' he added.
