Experiments with Instagram's "home" feed

New experiments with Instagram's "home" feed will allow the app to become more similar to its competitor, TikTok. The company has started experimenting with displaying content in full screen in the home feed, where users will see vertical content as soon as the app is opened.

Testing is underway, said the head of the social network, Adam Moseri, in a video posted on his Twitter page. According to him, "more" photos and videos will start appearing in the feed of some users.

We are testing a new, impressive browsing experience in the main results of the Home search. " If you take the test, look at it and tell me what you think about it," Mosseri wrote on his Twitter account.

Judging by the image of the smartphone in the video, in the new full-screen posts, comments, likes, and other information are placed at the top of the images, and not at the bottom, as usual.

Although the story panel is not visible, Meta says users can access the stories from the top of the screen. Search, Reels, Purchase, and User Profile will still be available; thanks to the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Notifications, messages, and other options will be at the top of the screen.

Innovations in Instagram were expected because the company intends to seriously compete with TikTok and other similar services. The social network actively promotes short videos among content creators and users; awarding cash prizes to top Reels creators. However, cloning videos from TikTok is not recommended, reports The Verge.

In late April, Moseri announced that the platform would change the ranking algorithm; in favor of "original" content. At the same time, the company strives in all possible ways; to entice authors of original content from competing sites; including the development of special tools to easily create videos in Reels format.
