F1: It seems as if the rims have RGB lighting

McLaren, the traditional F1 racing team, has engaged in a multi-year collaboration with Google, which is being celebrated with new rims on the race car, among other things. The rims appear to have RGB lighting.

This weekend marks the start of the new Formula One season. McLaren F1, led by German team boss Andreas Seidl and American McLaren CEO Zak Brown, will also compete. Since the 1966 F1 season, the British have raced in the self-proclaimed premier class of motorsport, formed by New Zealand racing driver Bruce McLaren.

Shortly before the start of the new season, the racing team from Woking, England, announced a multi-year relationship with Google. The F1 racing car has eye-catching painted rim covers as part of this sponsorship.

Although the rim covers appear to be lit up in the colors of the Google Chrome web browser, this is not RGB lighting, as some may believe. In theory, RGB-illuminated rims or driver helmets could be a future Formula 1 theme. After all, it would be simpler to see which race cars are now vying for positions.

The alliance aims to promote not only Android but also Google services such as the cloud division, which the F1 crew utilizes extensively. Lando Norris, one of McLaren's two racers, is an enthusiastic gamer. Norris not only drives Formula One in real life, but he also participates in e-sports competitions.

Every season since 2017, there has also been an official e-sports championship with over 200,000 participants and over 11 million viewers through the online mode of the official Codemasters F1 game. There was, of course, an official e-sports championship in F1 2021. The next licensed video game, F1 2022, will be released this summer.

Anyone who wishes to can play Xbox Game Pass F1 2021 for free on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S starting March 24th. If you own a PC and have a PC Game Pass subscription, you can already play F1 2019 for free. The 20 F1 drivers will compete in the inaugural race in Bahrain on Sunday, March 20.
