After Her Interview With Chris Harrison Where He Defended Rachel Kirkconnell, Rachell was bashed on social media.
Chris Harrison stepped down from his duties as host of The Bachelor, and its spin-offs. But, you probably already know that. It all happened with a lot of controversies, After an interview with former bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, he defended one of the contestants Rachael Kirkconnell.
"I am not the 'woke police,'" Harrison said to Lindsay after it was revealed that Kirkconnell was one of the people at an Old South, antebellum-themed party, before appearing on this popular show.
Later, Kirkconnell and Harrison apologized.
Almost a full year has passed from her now-infamous Extra interview with Chris Harrison. Now, Rachel opened up and revealed she is still feeling the heat. She even had death threats.
Lindsay had to endure a surge of backlash online. We all know she did not do anything wrong. Also, we know the internet can be such a cruel place.
The aftermath
The extreme online torture aimed at Rachel affected her. Apparently, she even started getting death threats.
Lindsay and Harisson are no longer on speaking terms. The reason is the whole ordeal. There was probably even some blocking involved.
“We haven't spoken,"
"He unfollowed me. That tells me everything I need to know," she stated.
"[P]eople who didn't even watch the show was saying, 'That woman got that man cancelled,'" she said. "I had commenters saying they hoped I was infertile. That ripped me up inside."
"I still get messages blaming me for the show not being the way it used to be. But I think that's a good thing."
There is no "master plan"
Lindsay also said that Harrison stepping down from his role was "not part of the master plan," according to Lindsay, but the franchise may improve and evolve without him.
"I hope the show steps up and diversifies more, whether it's with age or gender or race," she says about the show's future. "I would like for them to naturally and organically step into 2022."
Love conquers all!
Sometimes it looks everything is going to fall apart. But, Lindsay has her spouse, her "rock, "to lean on. She said she can always go to her husband Bryan Abasolo, for support.
Lindsay met Abasolo, 41, on the 2017 season of The Bachelor. The couple married in 2019 in Royalton Suites Cancun, Mexico. They got engaged as the end of the season was coming to its end.
"When I have those vulnerable moments, he always gives me a pep talk and brings me back to center," she says of Abasolo. "I'm so thankful I have him."
Lindsay did admit that at this stage in her life, she no longer feels "connected to the show". She comments that her romance is a success story for a Bachelor Nation.
Of course, she "would never want it to end," says the former Bachelor Happy Hour host.
"I'm so glad I did the show and had the opportunity to represent myself," she continues "There were benefits I got from it, obviously, but I didn't have a Black consultant. I was teaching them about the Black experience and trying to find love at the same time, something no other lead had to do."
