Selena Gomez: 'I was relieved when they told me I had bipolar disorder ...'
Selena has been battling lupus since 2014, had a kidney transplant, and was subsequently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. With all the adversity, she says helping others motivates her to be strong and move on
Singer Selena Gomez (29) spoke about the fight against impaired mental health:
- Every time I went through something, I thought, 'What's next? What else will I have to deal with? she said.
The singer was diagnosed with lupus in 2014, after which she was not out of the public eye for some time.
- My lupus, kidney transplant, chemotherapy, mental illness, a very public defeat in love - honestly, these are all things that should have brought me down - the singer concluded, adding that the thought that she would help others in the future helped her the most.
She also said that she was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder along with lupus, but that she was relieved when she was diagnosed:
- I felt as if a huge burden had been lifted from me. I thought that diagnosis explains so much.
As she says, Selena feels best when she is surrounded by people she loves. She moved several times until she found the ideal location that brought her peace.
