She explained that she had a completely different vision of the film and is convinced that with Bradley Cooper, Beyonce would be an incomparably better choice.

"First of all, when I heard that they were going to shoot a remake of my film and that the main candidates were Will Smith and Beyonce, I thought "it is going to be really interesting". It would have been a completely different film, with different music and actors. I was convinced it was a great idea! Then I was really surprised when I saw how similar the remake is to the original version from 1976. The film from 2018 was a bad idea" Barbara Streisand said honestly.
Streisand admitted that the film was a great success, won numerous awards, including the one for the original song and the best actress, and all of them went to Lady Gaga.
"Honestly, I don't care about the success of the film, I'm talking about originality" she pointed out.
Barbara Streisand has only words of praise for Beyonce and is thrilled with how this singer sang her old hit “The Way We Were”.
"I always think like a director and I ask for the best from my actors and singers. She always sings well. And it is a pity that Beyonce did not get the main role in the movie "The Star is Born" - added Streisand.
It is interesting that Jennifer Lopez also stated that she was considering shooting the remake of this classic with Will Smith, but that did not happen.
"I am convinced that this role was created for Beyonce, because the music would have been contemporary" concluded Barbara Streisand.
