The two halves of the rare manuscript of Jimi Hendrix's text were connected 55 years after the page was torn in two. The legendary guitarist was at an early stage of his career when his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience played in Bath, England on the evening of February 20, 1967, after Chuck Berry canceled his performance.
Before the concert, two local girls, aged 15 and 16, broke through to the backstage door in search of an autograph. Hendrix went out to meet them, but he had no blank paper. Instead, he ripped a page from a block of his poems, tore it in half, and signed both pieces. Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding also gave their autographs. While the girls walked home after the event, they noticed they actually had the lyrics of the song “51st Wedding Anniversary” written behind autographs. That was a hit that was released three weeks after that performance.
Over time, the two friends continued their lives and headed in different directions, and each had her own autographed paper and parts of the lyrics. However, last year, one of the women came to a Lancashire-based rock and roll sovereign store called "Tracks Limited" to get an evaluation of her autograph.
At the request of the store, the woman managed to find her friend after more than 50 years. She also had her autograph. Both women, who wish to remain anonymous, have agreed to sell their halves of the manuscript, the value of which is now estimated at five figures. “There are very few manuscripts of Jimi Hendrix and even fewer signed by Jimi and two other members of his band” - said the owner of the "Tracks Limited" store, Paul Wayne.
One of the most important figures in the history of rock music was certainly Jimi Hendrix (Johnny Allen Hendrix). Born in Seattle on November 27, 1942, he is remembered as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter, a unique and innovative figure on the world music scene. In 1966, he founded the rock band “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” in London with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The band stopped working in 1969. They left behind three studio albums "Are You Experienced" (1967), "Axis: Bold As Love" (1967), and "Electric Ladyland" (1968). They influenced the development of hard and psychedelic rock.
