'I’m not going to tell in detail today what happened,' she said, 'but I was raped when I was a teenager and I was completely unconscious when it happened. It changed the course of my life. I haven't told anyone about the incident for years, except for the nurse who examined me. I kept that secret to myself for years, and since I did, it caused a lot of pain to me and the people I love,' she explained.
'I drank a lot more, I was in violent and toxic relationships and friendships ... I mostly did everything I could to distract myself,' she added.

'Seeing so many other brave women sharing their stories made me think about what my life would have looked like if I had to raise a baby during everything I was going through at the time,' she said. 'Keep in mind, I have medical resources, money and support that many women don't have and that is the biggest gift. Later in life, I unexpectedly got pregnant with my boyfriend at the time and he made it pretty clear to me that he never wanted children or marriage. I chose abortion because I know exactly how it feels to be born between two people who hate each other,' she said. Ireland stated that she chose herself and she doesn't regret it. It is her life and her choice.
