Is the assistant director Dave Halls to blame for Rust shooting incident? He already had a similar incident: The gun fired, and he was fired from the set

The horrific incident on the set of the film 'Rust' is still being retold. Many details are coming out, and American media write that Dave Halls, an assistant director, was fired from a previous project due to a similar situation.

Namely, during the shooting of the film 'The Road to Freedom' in 2019, he was also an assistant, and then the prop gun also fired a real bullet. A member of the team was injured due to the recoil after the bullet was fired and was transported to the hospital.

Fortunately, that person recovered very quickly and returned to filming a few days later. Because of the whole incident, Halls was fired.

- We fired him very soon after the incident. We didn’t continue filming until the moment he left the set. We reported the incident and filed a report - it was the official response of the production company to the media.

- Dave was sad about everything, but he understood why he was fired. A new assistant director was hired, and filming was eventually successfully completed, they added.

Recall,  during the filming Alec Baldwin (63) wounded director  Joel Souza  (48) and killed the director of photography Halyna Hutchins  (42).
