Jonsbo U5: For glass and aluminum lovers
If you're looking for a sleek-looking machine room, Jonsbo's name may easily pop up among the alternatives, since the Chinese manufacturer's palette features only models that we can see not just on a gamer's desk, but in an exquisite office or living room, with a few exceptions.
The U5 is unique not just in style but also in material use, as the steel frame is covered with 2 mm thick aluminum sheets, one of the less frequent materials.
The front panel, top, and rear of the housing were all built of a single plate, with the ends folded under the housing to form the two-dimensional base. Fortunately, just the power and reset buttons, as well as the two USB 3.0 and jack ports, were removed from the front.
On both sides, darkened glass sheets were fixed using hand-soluble screws, which do not come into direct touch with the steel plate, but with a spongy coating, preventing scratching.
The engineers also assumed that the glass sheets would not fall off immediately after unscrewing the fixing screws because the tops of the two legs (ie the two ends of the cover plate) also act as supports, however it is worth propping them with the bottle to prevent them from tipping over.
Only the cover plates of the unused PCIe slots and the steel plate concealing the screws remain in the form of a distinct element, as have the windows of the ventilation grilles and the motherboard connectors.
The power supply could not be installed here in the back picture, thus it should not be fixed here, but above, under the snap-out ventilation grille, look for the window designed for it, moreover, in an odd way on the front side.
Because the underlying chamber terminates at the bottom of the housing, we can install a power supply of nearly any length - suitable for everyday use - and connect the power cord to the power outlet on the back.
In addition to the power supply, there are two 120-millimeter fan slots at the top of the housing, and 3 more at the bottom of the housing, between the mentioned legs, behind a removable dust filter.
The interior was separated into two chambers along the vertical axis, with the partition wall acting as a partition wall between them. This plate contains a big mounting window to aid in the later replacement of the CPU heat sink, as well as multiple cable cut-outs, the two largest of which are silicone-lined.
There is also a spot for the fans on this side, which are designed to support both 120mm units and feature three mounting points on the bottom of the housing, two on the top, and one on the rear.
There are four mounting points on the back of the system board tray where storage devices can be mounted.
The two lower 2.5 or 3.5-inch copies can also be received without having to be screwed directly to the plate; instead, four rubber inserts are attached to it, which then only need to be inserted into the corresponding cut-outs, whereas the two uppers, we can only put 2.5 "drives on the removable disk drive, but here we will not swim any longer.
The region, the upper half of which will most likely be occupied by our ATX-format power supply, which we can push into place from the side, allows for the passage between the two chambers.
If you want to keep the heavy component all the way through during screwing, this is worth doing when the housing is built out, as nothing will hold it from below (thanks to this, you can use almost any length of power).
Fortunately, we won't have to deal with the power cable separately because a wire has already been put in the factory between the top of the power supply and the rear panel outlet, so we'll just have to plug it into the power supply.
The leftover lower portion of the chamber can even be used entirely to accommodate extraneous cables. As a result, we can't install fans behind the front panel (which wouldn't make sense given how closed the front of the house is), and we can't install radiators anywhere in the house.
