Kate Middleton's passion for photography

Every royal fan knows that The Duchess of Cambridge is an accomplished photographer, as seen by countless images of her children released in honor of major occasions.

Who exactly prompted the mother-of-three to pick up a camera remained unknown until now.

However, a recent interview in the Sunday Express may have the key.

The Duchess of Cambridge said that her paternal grandpa, Peter Middleton, spurred her passion in photography, according to Claudia Acott Williams, curator of Kensington Palace's new photographic exhibition Life Through a Royal Lens.

Claudia stated to the newspaper that Kate informed her and other personnel at Historic Royal Palaces, the organization that runs the public areas of the palace, that her grandpa was a brilliant photographer in his own right.

According to the curator: "Her granddad had a knack for taking photographs. He used to show her his slides when she was a kid. He was the one who taught her how to use a camera."

Mr. Middleton, a former RAF pilot, passed in November 2010 at the age of 90. Following his death, it was reported that Prince William had attended the Middletons' birthday celebrations.

It was previously claimed that Kate Middleton learned photography from her father, Michael Middleton, but the family link appears to go back even earlier.

The 40-year-old Duchess is also clearly passionate about passing on her knowledge, having organized the photographic campaign Hold Still to encourage people to document their experiences under lockdown.

There were 31,000 submissions from photographers of all ages, with 100 final photographs chosen to be shown in a digital exhibition.

"Through Hold Still, I wanted to use the influence of photography to make a stable record of what we were all facing – to grab persons' tales and record important moments for communities and families as we lived through the global epidemic," Kate said of the news that the photographs would be turned into the a novel.

Her family had a party supply business in Bucklebury, Berkshire, where she grew up. During the changeover era, her secure middle-class background served her well.

Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife, has managed life in the light with the elegance and humor that the public has come to expect from her.
