Klipsch Launches 2.1 Speaker System

Klipsch's new "multimedia speaker system" "ProMedia Heritage" aims to combine a small footprint, simple controls, and strong sound.

The Klipsch ProMedia Heritage 2.1 set fits in line with the iconic Klipsch Heritage series design but is touted to be technologically up to current and appropriate for music aficionados with limited space and a need for modern usage.

According to Klipsch, the tiny footprint of the subwoofer, which has amplifiers for both it and the satellite speakers, makes it perfect for placing on a shelf or use with a computer. Bluetooth allows it to connect wirelessly to computers, smartphones, and tablets.

An RCA analog input enables connecting to other analog source devices. The bundled infrared remote controls the volume and strength of the subwoofer as well as input selection. It also has a mute function, play and pause (when using Bluetooth), and the option to select "night mode."

According to the manufacturer, the developers calibrated the system for maximum dynamics and deep bass reproduction at both low and high sound pressure levels. A three-dimensional sound stage is stated to appear in both near-field operations on a desk and at greater listening distances, such as in a living room.

The subwoofer level may be changed for improved room and location adaptation. Each satellite speaker comes with a 7.6cm woofer and a 2.5cm fabric dome tweeter. The latter is housed in a Klipsch Tractrix® horn.

The subwoofer's strong 21cm bass driver is powered by 100 watts and includes a bass reflex port for an extended low-frequency response. There are two actual wood treatments available: black ash and walnut. The ProMedia Heritage 2.1 Set is now available for roughly $400*.
