Louis Vuitton lavishly celebrates the 200th anniversary of the founder’s birth

From the humble beginnings of orphans from the Jura region in France to one of the largest luxury brands in the world - when it comes to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the house Louis Vuitton, there are many reasons to celebrate.

Over the centuries, Louis Vuitton has become synonymous with prestige whose splendor has not abated. Young Vuitton was left an orphan as a child and, leaving his native Anchay for Paris, became a scientist for one of the major luggage makers, and in 1854 he founded his own company which revolutionized the suitcases of the time and turned travel into the art of living. Until then, chests and suitcases with rounded tops were used for travel to make water slide off them, but Vuitton made them lighter and was credited with their square shape that allowed multiple pieces of luggage to stack on top of each other. Thanks to that, he became an iconic baggage designer for the elite, including Princess Eugenie, and numerous celebs to this day.

The story of his journey and success in the year of the great jubilee will be marked by a novel, a video game, collaborations with former house designers Marc Jacobs and Kim Jones, works by contemporary artists and an exclusive documentary 'Looking for Louis' expected in December on the Apple TV Explore Channel.
