Meryl Streep got a subway stop with her name for her birthday!

On the initiative of artist Adrian Wilson and production designer Matt Duncan, one of the busiest stations of the New York subway was named after Meryl Streep (72).

In her honor, the 72nd Street subway station on the Upper West Side got a tiny redesign. So instead of the regular "72 Street" signs, on the actress's birthday, they read "72 Streep" instead.

Adrian Wilson explained to New York Times the reason for this incredible gesture: “It’s one of those ideas that you have where you say to yourself: it’s so perfect. Meryl Streep is a national treasure so everyone will love what we did. He also told the site Time Out: “I am known for the tributes I pay for using metro stops. I realized in January that changing a single letter to this station would be a perfect tribute from New York on the birthday of one of its favorite stars. I hope she likes the surprise and that the company in charge of the metro will leave it in place for a while“.

The three-time Oscar winner was especially happy with the original gift for her 72nd birthday.

Meryl Streep recently told the media, in order to play the character of Miranda Priestley in the famous film "The Devil Wears Prada", that, in addition to having to be a "cold character" on the set, she tried to stay icy even when not in front of the camera.

"I was scared! I was so miserable in my trailer separated from the other actors. I heard them having fun, laughing… I was so depressed! I told myself at one point - well that’s the price you pay for being a boss" she said.
