Myths about aesthetic procedures and treatments
Botox irons all types of wrinkles, liposuction makes you thin, fillers make "duck" mouths. These are just some of the misconceptions in the field of aesthetic medicine.
Pull out one gray hair and two will grow, lip balms actually dry out the mucous membranes, you don't need sun protection after darkening. These are just some of the myths from the field of beauty that are passed from generation to generation, although for these claims there is no foothold. The same is true in the field of aesthetic medicine. Some misconceptions have become deeply ingrained in a relatively short time and doctors have to break them down over and over again.
I will lose weight with liposuction
This is the most common misconception. Liposuction is a surgical procedure for shaping or contouring the body, not a method of removing excess weight, and is best for patients who weigh four to eight kilograms more than their ideal weight. It is aimed at removing stubborn fat deposits that cannot be dissolved, despite a proper diet and exercise. Today, everyone is chasing fast solutions, but there is no quick solution for healthy and effective weight loss.
If you stop using Botox, your wrinkles will get worse
Many people think that after the cessation of the use of botulinum toxin, wrinkles appear in greater numbers than before. But Botox doesn’t work that way. When we stop using it, wrinkles will come back naturally, and since the skin is older now than when we started using it, wrinkles can look different. But Botox is not to blame.
Nose can be reduced by non-surgical rhinoplasty
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed using a filler or thread, to camouflage the bump on the nose and try to lift or narrow the tip. But the nose can't be reduced that way. Therefore, such patients are always shown a digital display that allows them to more easily see the difference in the results of surgical and non-surgical procedures.
Fillers create "duck" mouths
Such an opinion is justifiably the responsibility of those who fill the lips of their patients (and patients) too much with fillers. You shouldn't be able to notice a well-performed aesthetic procedure, but a poorly performed one can be seen from a kilometer away. People notice unnatural lips, which is why they think that fillers always give such a result and decide to bypass them in a wide arc. But when all is well done, the lip filler can give a subtle augmentation that still looks natural, just a little fuller and bolder.
