NEW CHAPTER: Meghan and Harry with Lilibet are breaking the royal tradition
The baptism of Lilibet will not be in accordance with the royal tradition?
There is no doubt that the decision of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle to leave the UK and start a new life in California will have a profound impact on how they raise their children, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Diane Mountbatten-Windsor.
Two-year-old Archie is already attending preschool and was seen enjoying the beach in a short video clip Meghan posted on her 40th birthday, but daughter Lilibet is still safely guarded, although fans noticed her photos in the same video.
‘Harry and Meghan have always done things their own way, and that applies to what they want for their children,’ an informed source told Best Life. ‘Although both Archie and Lilibet were born as members of the royal family, their earliest months were quite different,’ the source continues.
This includes an important royal tradition that Harry and Meghan reportedly plan to end with Lilibet, which could further alienate them from the rest of the royal family. Namely, Archie, who was born on May 6, 2019, was baptized two months later in a private chapel near Windsor Castle, but his younger sister Lili was born in California at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, a few miles from Meghan and Harry’s Montecito villa.
Both children have dual citizenship because Meghan was born in California and Harry in England.
In recent weeks, there have been reports that Harry and Meghan wanted Lili to be baptized in Windsor just like their son. They also reportedly wanted the ceremony to take place in front of Queen Elizabeth.
Now some royal sources reject the idea that the Sussexes will fly back to England for a traditional royal ceremony and will instead decide to baptize Lilibet in California.
In an interview with The Express, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said it was very likely. 'It seems certain that Lilibet's baptism will be in Meghan's home country and will be held in secret, without the controversy which surrounded Archie's baptism,' Fitzwilliams said.
