New Tomb Raider with Unreal Engine 5

We were expecting an event today with a huge announcement about Unreal Engine 5, not Tomb Raider, and we were not disappointed. What we didn't expect was the announcement of a game being created for a said platform to overshadow the major event.

But, of course, knowing that we're talking about the Lara Croft series and that Crystal Dynamics revealed at the said event that they are already working on the next iteration of Tomb Raider and that they have chosen Unreal Engine 5 for such a finish, this makes sense. At this time, the stakes are obviously very high.

There has been no other information regarding this next Tomb Raider sequel, the first in nearly four years since the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which was released in 2018 and finished the trilogy begun by Tomb Raider and its follow-up Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Almost four years have passed, and it appears that the studio has given its recent releases a spin, particularly Shadow of the Tomb Raider, thinking about how to enhance some of the shadows we saw in a title that was not awful at all.

He has not provided us with any other information regarding the title under development. We don't know the title, release date, or anything about the plot. Furthermore, they have yet to show us a single frame.

However, knowing that the next Tomb Raider will be built on Unreal Engine 5 already indicates that it will be a true next-gen title, albeit we can also expect high technical requirements, especially if we want to play it in advanced visual modes.

The unveiling of this new Tomb Raider, about which we know nothing, has overshadowed an event hosted by Epic Games to announce that Unreal Engine 5 is now open to all developers who wish to use it.

And Epic has chosen not to attend the announcement alone; rather, at one point during the event, a graphic with the logos of the firms that are already creating on Unreal Engine 5 was exhibited.

Furthermore, to assist developers in becoming acquainted with the novelties of Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games has published a game created with the said environment and editable, which will allow you to mess around with the guts of a 100 percent Unreal Engine 5 title and that, being designed for this purpose, will most likely make use of a large portion of the novelties of this new version of the Epic Games game development environment.

Epic Games has already given us some progress on what to expect from the platform chosen for the future new Tomb Raider adventure, among which we choose Matrix Awakens, a playable demo for PlayStation 5 that left many mouths open.
