Pierce Brosnan: 'Because I didn't grow up with my father, I now value my family and fatherhood more'!
Former James Bond said he was influenced by his isolated childhood and that because he did not have a stable environment, he now values his wife and family even more.
Actor Pierce Brosnan, 68, in an interview with Gentleman’s Journal opened up about his childhood and how it affected him as a father.
- I really appreciate the family. I appreciate being a father. I didn’t grow up with a father figure or a solid family structure and that’s why I respect my loved ones more, Brosnan said.
Brosnan’s father left him and his mother May while Pierce was a baby, and the actor had previously spoken of his childhood as ‘quite lonely’.
- That deep rift, the kind of isolation and loneliness governed my imagination. I had to manage mostly through intuition - the former James Bond described his childhood.
Brosnan went on to appreciate and love his family for these experiences, and especially praised his wife Keely Shaye Smith, 57.
- Keely is the most wonderful possible mother and wife. During our 27 years, I watched her grow up, I watched our lives flourish and grow. And even after that, we still have a lot of dreams to fulfill - said the actor.
Recall, Brosnan calls Keely his ‘eternal love’, and together they have sons Dylan (24) and Paris (20). They met after Brosnan’s first wife Cassandra Harris died of cancer.
Brosnan and Cassandra had a son, Sean, 37, and he also adopted her children, son Chris (48) and daughter Charlotte, who unfortunately also died of cancer.
