Queen gets medical ban: 'It's not fair to have to give up one of the rare pleasures'

Doctors advised Queen Elizabeth II to stop consuming one of her favorite drinks because of her age and health.

The queen was told to give up the habit of drinking the evening drink that is most commonly a martini,” this detail about the 95-year-old queen was revealed by her family friend for Vanity Fair.

For her, it’s not a big deal, given that she doesn’t drink much, but it’s a little unfair that at this stage of her life she has to give up one of the rare pleasures,” the family friend added.

The queen - who was seen in public for the first time this week with a walking stick - previously revealed she is not a wine lover. During an official visit in 2019, she told the head of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany, "I don't actually drink wine, but I hear it's very good."

However, it is known that the British queen prefers a little dubonnet and gin with a slice of lemon and a lot of ice. She also loves dry gin martinis, and interestingly, Buckingham Palace has its own brand of this drink. Before going to bed, the queen reportedly likes to drink a glass of champagne, media writes.
