Rock legend, 76-year-old Rod Stewart and his 41-year-old son Sean Stewart have pleaded guilty to assault but will be spared prison sentences in the event of an attack on a security guard at an exclusive Florida hotel who banned them from private entertainment in 2020.

Stewart is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records worldwide. He has had 10 number-one albums and 31 top ten singles in the UK, 6 of which reached number one.

Court records released Friday show the singer and his son pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of mild violence.

'No one was injured in the incident and the jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the charges. Instead, Sir Rod Stewart chose to plead to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that would cause further proceedings, 'Stewart's lawyer Guy Fronstin said in a statement.

Father and son Stewart had previously been sentenced to a year in prison for fighting.

The plea agreement, dated and signed Monday, means Stewart and his son will not have to appear in court, and a formal verdict on the charge has been rejected and there will be no trial.

Neither of them will go to jail, will not have to pay fines, and will not receive suspended sentences, Fronstin revealed.

The Stewarts were charged with a physical confrontation with security guard Jessie Dixon at the luxury Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach on December 31, 2019, and the dispute involved Dixon’s refusal to allow them a private New Year’s Eve party at the hotel.

Dixon stated in court documents that Rod Stewart punched him in the chest without being pushed by Sean Stewart.

A spokesman for the Palm Beach Attorney General Dave Aronberg, whose office led the case, confirmed in an email to the Daily Mail that Dixon agrees with the outcome of the case.
