Jamie Spears turned to God during rehab shortly after he took control of his daughter’s life when she was diagnosed with a mental illness in 2008. Britney Spears' father needed help in caring for his daughter so he relied on the now controversial business manager Lou Taylor.
Taylor brought in her employee, Robin Greenhill, to help manage Britney’s affairs - but Greenhill “soon entered every aspect of her life”.
Britney could only read religious books
The first year the trio “literally walked around with a Bible in their hand,” and Britney could only read religious materials.
Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, noted in one of her books that Jamie and Taylor “felt like God was leading them” during the first days of custody.
Taylor also stressed during a 2008 interview for the Today show that religion was the focus of family attention. Taylor said Jamie "asked the Lord every day to give him strength" and that Lynne also "prayed to God every day to give her strength."
