Style Icon Iris Apfel turns 100: "Dress to please yourself!"

"More is more, and less is boring" is the mantra that Iris has lived by all her life and by which she is actually famous.

Despite her age, Iris Apfel still enjoys the world of fashion and finds ways to express her style and inspire others to do the same. On one occasion, Iris pointed out that style and fashion fascinated her from an early age.

In the sixties, Iris became famous as an interior designer, and after several years of work, she started a company for the production of fabric. She founded the company with her late husband Carl Apfel, whom she considered the love of her life and the only person who understood and supported her unconditionally.

Her unique style was noticed by important people from the biggest fashion houses, such as: "Chanel", "Dior" and "Dolce & Gabbana", so she earned the nickname "First lady of fabric". Her sense of fashion was also recognized by some very influential people, so this vivid senior lady used to collaborate with nine American presidents.

Even today, Iris tries not to make her clothes boring, but to always impress those present with her elegance and interesting style.

Her positive and cheerful character is open to everything that is new and creative, and that is exactly why she is an icon of today. She is known for the big glasses she almost always wears, jewelry, but also for the recognizable coral-colored lipstick that suits her perfectly. She has repeatedly pointed out that it doesn't matter what you wear, but how you wear it.

Namely, Apfel believes that style is not expensive clothes - you can have a pile of money, wear the most expensive dresses and accessories, but have no style. ''No amount of money can buy you style. It's just instinctive," Iris once said and we totally agree.
