Technics SA-1000: introduced in 1977

The Technics SA-1000, introduced in 1977, was one of the most powerful receivers ever produced, with 330 Watts per channel minimum RMS into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and less than 0.03 percent total harmonic distortion.

There was an equally dramatic amplifier section to capture the overwhelming dynamics of a live symphony. 72,000 microF of high capacitance filtering, independent DC rectifiers, current-mirror loading, and direct coupling are just a few examples.

But that's not the only incentive to get the SA-1000.

Another example is dynamic range.

The results are impressive: high reserve power, little transient crosstalk distortion, and great stability.

As fantastic as all of that sounds, Technics Acoustic Control improved it by adding low and high range boost and filter switches to the tone controls

For the record, the SA-1000's phono equalization features everything from a 97 dB S/N ratio to a phono input that can handle a 300 mV signal at 1 kHz.

In the MPX area, you'll find two RF stages with low-noise, 4-pole, dual-gate MOS FETs, Technics designed flat group delay filters, and a Phase Locked Loop IC.

As wonderful as it sounds, Technics Acoustic Control improves it by adding low and high-range boost and filter switches to the tone controls. A midrange control with a changing center frequency is also included. In addition, there are 24 LED peak-power indicators.
