The first teaser trailer for "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is out!
Donald Glover and Maya Erskine play a couple of killers in the remake of the film with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
The first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated series "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the main roles. Today, Prime Video released a trailer that hints at the plot of the upcoming series and confirms a release date quite early in 2024: February 2 .
If you're a fan of the original film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, you'll be glad to know that all the key elements are still there. The posh spy setting, the missions that take the couple around the world, their constant banter and bickering, and their weeks of therapy - during which they discuss marital problems but fail to reveal that they are secret agents.
The trailer also offers a sneak peek at some of the show's guest stars, including Paul Dano, John Turturro, Parker Posey, and Sarah Paulson. Last but not least, the teaser also suggests that the duo's biggest struggle will be reconciling their secret identities and their fake marriage and deciding how much they can reveal to each other. While it seems easier for him to share, she is quite hesitant to open up.
So far, all we know about "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is that it will follow the same premise of the movie: the main couple present themselves as happily married so that their neighbors and everyone else don't suspect that they are on a mission. We have yet to find out if this first season will feature several missions or one overarching story that will span all episodes.
"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" was originally supposed to include Phoebe Waller-Bridge alongside Donald Glover, but she left the project in 2021 due to creative differences. The cast also includes Michaela Coel, Wagner Moura, Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Ron Perlman and Úrsula Corberó. The series was created and written by Glover and Francesca Sloane. Prime Video will premiere the series on February 2, 2024 .
