The new Netflix romantic comedy "Players" turns romance into a game!
The new Netflix romantic comedy also stars Tom Ellis and Damon Wayans Jr.
Who would have thought that love is a team sport? In the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy "Players", starring Gina Rodriguez and Tom Ellis, we'll discover how well-coordinated teamwork is needed to hunt down a certain "target."
What can we expect?
The newly released trailer for the upcoming film reveals Mack (Rodriguez) and her friends, who have come up with a perfectly coordinated scheme in which they help each other on the love front, securing each other's dates with the targeted people.
Things change when Mack meets Nick (Ellis) and immediately falls for him. With the help of her friends, Mack will use all possible tactics to win the man of her dreams. Of course, even though everything seems to be working as it should, things are not going very smoothly.
One of the most exciting things about "Players" is its mixed and talented cast members. Aside from Rodriguez and Ellis, both of whom have received praise for their work on notable television shows, "Players" also stars Daman Wayans Jr. (New Girl), who plays Adam, Mack’s best friend. Additional cast members include Augustus Prew (The Morning Show), Marin Hinkle (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Joel Courtney (The Kissing Booth), Liza Koshy (Work It), and Ego Nwodim (Saturday Night Live).
In this cast, Sie, the movie's director, is also an asset. In the past, Sie mostly worked as a choreographer and director for dance films and music videos. But now, following last year’s well-reviewed "Sitting in Bars with Cake", she's more than comfortable with movies that feature romantic and comedic elements. Considering this movie's release date, Netflix is likely hoping audiences will make the movie part of their Valentine's Day. It remains to be witnessed if this will be one more forgettable film or if it will join the list of some of Netflix's best romance movies that have been released over the last few years.
The romantic comedy "Players" should arrive on Netflix on February 14.
