The pilot for "The Dark Tower" is already written!

Last week it was revealed that Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy's Intrepid Pictures are moving from Netflix to a new home, Amazon Studios. The duo signed a multi-year contract and agreed to show their future projects exclusively on the Amazon Prime platform. And on top of that contract, there is already a very ambitious project that Flanagan and Macy are working on. It is nothing less than an adaptation of King's "The Dark Tower", which was envisioned as a five-season TV series, potentially followed by two stand-alone movies.

The project currently exists separately from Intrepid's deal with Amazon, but Flanagan said in an interview with foreign media that he would be "delighted" if Amazon decided to take the series under its wing. Also, Flanagan revealed that he had already written the pilot for "The Dark Tower" and made a detailed outline for the first season and a more general outline for the remaining seasons.

"The pilot script is one of my favorite things I've ever worked on. So we were grateful that Stephen King entrusted us with such an undertaking, something so precious to him, and we hope to find the right partners to realize it." Flanagan added.

In the interview, Flanagan and Macy talked about their time at Netflix. They stated that they had relatively successful cooperation with Netflix, but that over time they noticed a difference in their relationship. They pointed out that the relationship was not bad, just different, and that it was obvious that they were not on the same page, so at the beginning of the year they decided to look for a new collaboration. They also emphasized that the cancellation of "The Midnight Club" series alone did not influence the decision to leave. Of course, they were disappointed that the series didn't get a second season, but that's all. Simply, as part of the numerous changes that have taken place at Netflix in the last few years, they also noticed that the strategy used to launch new series has undergone a lot of changes. When they arranged The Midnight Club, the whole company was very different.

But before all that, Netflix has one more project left from Flanagan and Macy, the horror series "The Fall of the House of Usher", which is expected next year.
