The Weeknd continues to boycott the Grammys
Canadian singer The Weeknd continued to boycott the Grammy Awards. The music superstar decided not to submit his music for consideration for this prestigious award.
The conflict with the Grammy Academy dates back to 2020 after he did not receive a nomination for his critically acclaimed album "After Hours".
The Weeknd then publicly criticized this award ceremony via social media.
"The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency." he wrote on Twitter.
While The Weeknd hasn't released a new album this year, the critics and his fans consider his new song "Save Your Tears" a perfect candidate for the most famous music reward. However, the singer announced that he will no longer be submitting his music to the "corrupt" Recording Academy.
He continued with the boycott and harsh criticism by mentioning the so-called "secret committees".
"Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my record label to submit my music to the Grammys," he said in an interview with The New York Times.
The Weeknd is currently working on new music, and his latest single "Save Your Tears" was released in early January this year.
