"The X-Files" seems to be getting a "new version"!

The most popular series of the 90s, "The X-Files", is reportedly getting a new version, 30 years after the first episode aired. After the infamous reboot in 2016, which failed to meet fans' expectations, it looks like the popular sci-fi series is getting a new reboot. There are rumors that Disney plans to release a new version of the series, which will be directed by Black Panther's director Dyan Coogler.

What can we expect?

Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) could be brought back to life on the small screen, with the actress suggesting in a recent interview that a lot would have to change for her to consider returning.

"It sounds like a very old idea. I did it, for so many years, and it ended up being a bit unfortunate. For us to even start that conversation about another season, there would have to be a whole new group of writers and the baton would have to be handed off to someone who could make something new and progressive," she said.

Let us remind you that the first episode of "The X-Files" was broadcast in 1993, and the series became a big hit that marked the 90s. An attempt to revive the series in 2016 met with criticism from fans, and the 11th season flopped with the lowest viewership of any previous season.

For example, the premiere of the fifth season was followed by over 27 million viewers, while the eleventh attracted only 5.15 million. "The X-Files" returned in 2016 after a 15-year hiatus, and recorded better numbers than seasons nine and eight, but the next season, two years later, was watched by three times fewer people.

After 11 seasons and two movies, "The X-Files" stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny spent a lot of time as agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. Whether he will return remains to be seen. However, we saw that  Anderson recently suggested that a lot has to change so she could consider a comeback.
